Journal No.3
This journal number (3) three is about what I’ve read the story of the two wolves, it is an old Cherokee Indian story that is enlightening and helpful.
Knowing
which wolf to feed is the first step towards recognizing you have control over
your own self.
Have
you ever had thoughts, feelings, or acted in ways that were unacceptable to
yourself but felt powerless to control? The purpose of this story is to help
you find ways to manage your mind so that you can live your life more in
accordance with what your own judgment says is best for you.
As we
grow up, we gradually become aware in the world which is largely beyond our
ability to control.
The grandfather’s answer “The one you feed” is deceivingly
simple. The results of psychological research according to
psychologymatters.asia that there are at least four important concept implied
by the answer:
1.
The mind is not unitary it seems to us but
consists of different parts. For example in the story there are the two wolves
and the “you” that chooses between them.
2.
These parts of the mind/brain can interact and
be in conflict with each other i.e. the two wolves fight for dominance over our
mind and behavior.
3.
The “you” has the ability to decide which wolf I
will feed.
4.
Having made a choice, “you” can decide
specifically how to “feed” or nurture the selected wolf.
This
story makes me realize that anything that you focus on, it will get big. For example
if you always focus on negative things I your life, it will ruin you, yourself
go down. Therefore, be careful and mindful the one you feed the most part of
your life, so that everything will be in order as you feed. Actually it’s not
the first time I read or heard this story, but then again I always have
different realization as I go encounter again, I go to the differ reflection of
my life.
Most of people now are focused on the
standards of this world, they always feed their mind that they have to comply
on those standards so, and they’re always trying hard by themselves. They hurt
when they don’t meet the standards. It’s so sad and alarming that most of people
nowadays are like that. They say “ayokong maiwan sa uso”!
I hope when you read also this story, make some realization
and please do care to leave a comment box, what’s yours?! Thanks for reading!! J
